Annette O'Toole grew up in the Houston dance studio run by her mum. When she was just two, she appeared for the first time on television, as a child on the Don Mahoney Kids Trooper show. After ten years in singing and dance lessons with her mom and sister, she moved for a trip to L.A. to try and test whether a showbiz career was possible. The first show she worked on as a professional dancer after less than two months. Danny Kaye's The Danny Kaye Show. "I've used my dance and singing training to a great extent," she says. "The the discipline that you learn from that is wonderful as an actor." Her first acting role was My Three Sons. This was immediately followed by Gunsmoke. The Mod Squad. and Hawaii Five-O. The most important thing that O'Toole loves, in spite of her television and film success, is theatre. After her run of six years on Smallville ended, she decided to pursue theater as her primary focus, which is what she's done since the past ten years. An audition she took in New York led her to be chosen to play The Sea Gull. She has performed in many off Broadway productions like Adam Rapp's "Kindness", Tracy Letts Man from Nebraska and Tennessee Williams A Lovely Sunday for Creve Couer.
